The budget of shame: Only EUR 149,000 has been allocated for the Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled

The issue of increasing the budget of the Special Fund of the Centre for Vocational Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons was raised once again by AKEL yesterday during the debate in the Plenary of the Parliament.

The Fund’s budget for 2022 amounts to just 149,000 euros, with the government claiming that in addition to this amount, funds are available for the same purpose through the Employment Plan implemented by the Department for the Social Integration of Persons with Disabilities.

AKEL MP Andros Kafkalias pointed out that the low level of the Special Fund’s budget “is a disgrace”. He also announced that AKEL has already registered the issue for debate in Labour Affairs Committee.
