AKEL on the resignation of the Minister of Justice
Government’s goal is to improve its image which is not held in high esteem as regards corruption

The resignation of Emily Yioliti from the Ministry of Justice and the content of her letter confirm what citizens know. President Anastasiades is not concerned about the negative consequences of his policies, nor about the failure of his Ministers, but that he is only concerned about his own image and that of his government. This is obviously the motivation of the government ruling forces for the formation of a so-called government of wider acceptance. Their goal is to improve the image of the government which, according to Emily Yioliti, is not held in high esteem by society as regards issues related to corruption and transparency.
Governments, however, are primarily judged by the content and consequences of their policies and not so much by the personalities who make them up.
