AKEL denounces the murder of an HDP militant in Izmir

18th June 2021, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

AKEL denounces the deadly attack on the offices of the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) in Izmir, which resulted in the death of a young woman Deniz Poyraz, a local HDP party official. The assassination is not unrelated to the wider persecution of the Party and all opposition voices by Erdogan’s regime. More specifically, the perpetrators appear to be jihadist mercenaries who are exploited by the “deep state” for waging terrorist attacks in both Turkey and the region.

AKEL denounces this new attack against the HDP and expresses its solidarity with HDP, its militants and leading members who are behind in prison, as well as with all the forces in Turkey that are struggling against the Erdogan regime.
