They are torpedoing every effort to find a solution to the Cyprus problem

AKEL unequivocally condemns the provocative visit of Tayyip Erdogan to the occupied territories, the celebrations for the 37th anniversary of the proclamation of the so-called “TRNC” and the “picnic” planned tomorrow within the fenced off city of Famagusta.
Erdogan’s inflammatory statements in favor of a two-state solution that were made beforehand and his announcements on Varosha constitute a disregard for international law, the Resolutions of the United Nations and torpedo any attempt to find a solution to the Cyprus problem. It is no coincidence that these statements and actions by the Turkish side are being made at a time when the UN Secretary General is exploring the possibility of undertaking a new effort on the Cyprus problem.
The government has nothing to propose to the moves of the Erdogan-Tatar duo. For a long time now, it has been following them indifferently instead in a convincing and clear way taking initiatives for a resumption of the talks as indicated by the UN Secretary General and the UN Resolutions. However, there is no more time left.
