The government ruling forces talk about unity only when they are unable to give satisfactory answers to explain negative developments

AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Stefanos Stefanou replies to DISY

AKEL C.C Press Office, 24th May 2019, Nicosia

We agree with the government rulers that our homeland is going through tough times because of Turkey’s illegal and provocative actions in the area of the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus. Unity is essential.

But how is unity served by the government ruling forces? Is it served by calling their political opponents “zeros”?

Or is unity forged by suggesting that the biggest party of the opposition is betraying Cyprus, falsely claiming that it is promoting Turkey’s policy?

Unity is not a proclamation, nor a flag of convenience.

It is forged in practice. And unfortunately, the government ruling forces talk about unity only when they are unable to give satisfactory answers to explain negative developments.
