AKEL congratulates Sevgül Uludağ whose name has been put forward as a candidate for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 19 March 2019, Nicosia

AKEL warmly congratulates the Turkish Cypriot investigative journalist Sevgül Uludağ whose name has been put forward as a candidate for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. This candidacy has a greater significance due to the fact that it was proposed by the Greek Cypriot professor Anna Agathangelou, who is a relative of missing persons.

On this opportunity, AKEL commends the humanitarian work of Sevgül Uludağ and the bicommunal Non-Governmental Organization “Together We Can”, which for years has been contributing to the investigation of the fate of our country’s missing persons, both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.

The candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize unquestionably highlights Sevgül Uludağ’s humanitarian work as a model of joint cooperation between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots aiming at healing the wounds of our country and the building of peace.
