The President must convince the UN Secretary-General that he has the political will

AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Stefanos Stefanou on the Cyprus Question

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 29 October 2018, Nicosia

Regardless of the confusion and questions which Mr. Anastasiades has provoked as a result of his contradictory statements on the basis of the solution of the Cyprus problem, in view of the UN Secretary-General Special Envoy Mrs. Lutte’s critical visit to Cyprus on Wednesday, President Anastasiades must focus on the major issue of our times. That is what the President must do through his actions, initiatives and positions expressed – which must be clear – in order to persuade the UN Secretary-General that he has the political will and is ready to engage in substantive negotiations on the framework of the UN Secretary-General’s conclusions. The President of the Republic must at long last work towards this direction.
