For AKEL, prudence, patriotism and consistency to principles are not a flag of convenience, as it is for DISY and the government
Reply of AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Stefanos Stefanou to the statements of DISY party President Averof Neophytou
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 9 March 2018, Nicosia
The government ruling force’s tactic of putting the blame for their own failures on others is a one of their favourite methods, as well as their tactics to distort the positions of others so that they can subsequently criticize them.
DISY President Averof Neophytou, in his statements today, employed these two tactics in order to cover up the Anastasiades-DISY government’s failure to convince the international community of the responsibilities Turkey has for the stalemate on the Cyprus problem, but also for the situation in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus.
Whereas during the presidential election campaign, the government ruling forces were overabundant in their declarations that their policy had fully safeguarded and fortified the sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprus and also organizing communication fiestas at the Presidential Palace on energy issues, they are now trying to deliver lessons to AKEL about prudence and patriotism.
For AKEL, prudence, patriotism and consistency to principles are not a flag of convenience, as it is for DISY and the government. For AKEL it is a stand based on political principles. That is why Mr. Neophytou deliver lessons to others, not us, Mr. Neophytou deliver lessons to your own political spectrum.
As for the talk about the attributes on patriotism, for AKEL what is particularly important is the recognition our people gives us.
