AKEL on the “new strategy” of N. Papadopoulos

The “new strategy” leads to the annulment of the relevant resolutions on Cyprus facilitating a solution outside UN parameters

Statement by AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Stefanos Stefanou,

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 18th September 2017, Nicosia

The parties supporting the candidacy of Mr. Papadopoulos insist that a “new strategy” is needed on the Cyprus problem; a strategy that no one knows its content and to which Mr. N. Papadopoulos so far hasn’t managed to describe its content. How can he do so when Mr. Papadopoulos says he is in favour of the Bizonal, Bicommunal Federation with a correct content, Socialist EDEK Party leader Mr. Sizopoulos has denounced bizonal, bicommunal federation and “Solidarity Movement” leader Mrs. Theocharous is in favor of a unitary state?

It is obvious that the much-publicized “new strategy” leads to the annulment of the resolutions relevant to Cyprus, a fact which facilitates Turkey to achieve what Turkish Foreign Minister Mr. Csavousoglou said, namely a solution outside the UN parameters. Bizonal, Bicommunal Federation is a key UN parameter FOR THE Cyprus problem.
