Negotiations should continue without of course strict timetables and arbitration procedures

The talks on the Cyprus problem are at a critical point. The negotiations have so far registered progress, which is in the main based on the reaffirmation of the convergences that had been achieved between Christofias and Talat.

Undoubtedly, important issues are still pending on which there are disagreements and differences between the two sides. It is evident that to overcome the disagreements it is imperative that the negotiations should continue, without of course strict timetables and arbitration procedures.

If and provided that a mutually agreed solution to the Cyprus problem is finally achieved, and given that sufficient time for briefing and discussion is provided for, the people will decide in referenda.
