Visit of the President of the Communist Party of Bohemia & Moravia in Cyprus
A delegation of the Communist Party of Bohemia &
Moravia headed by the President of the Party, Filip Vojtech
visited Cyprus on 29th of May 2013. The Cyprus Problem, EU policies and the consequences of the capitalist crisis were the main issues at the meeting between the leadership of the Czech communists and the General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL Andros Kyprianou.
The GS of AKEL thanked the Communist Party of Bohemia &
Moravia for their support to the struggle of Cyprus for liberation
and reunification of the island and its people. Andros Kyprianou
congratulated the Communist Party of Bohemia-Moravia for the
very good results on the last year’s elections, where CPBM gained
21% and became the second political force in Czech Republic.
The two leaders exchanged views on the upcoming European Elections
of May 2014 and agreed on continuing contacts among European
left parties in order to form a common declaration. The GS
of the CC of AKEL assured that the relations of the two parties will
be considerably enhanced.
On his behalf, the President of CPBM expressed support to the UN
Resolutions on Cyprus Problem, pointing out that only their implementation
can lead to a fair and viable solution. Filip Vojtech
thanked AKEL for its contribution on the formation of a progressive
left agenda as a response to the economic policies of EU. The
continuation of the neoliberal
policies will only
deepen the consequences
of the crisis.
The delegation of the
Communist Party of Bohemia
& Moravia had also a meeting with the President of the Parliament
and leader of Cypriot socialdemocratic party (EDEK)
Yiannakis Omirou. The leader of CPBM expressed the support of
its party to the efforts for a fair solution of the Cyprus problem,
which should end the Turkish occupation.
