It is the hope of all Cypriots that the visit to Cyprus by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, an opportunity to break the long-standing deadlock on the Cyprus problem and pave the way for the resumption of negotiations on the agreed basis and within the agreed framework, with a view to ending the occupation and reuniting our homeland and our people.
It is of critical importance to safeguard the entire negotiation acquis and the Guterres Framework, on the basis of which negotiations must resume from the point at which they were suspended in 2017, addressing the remaining issues.
AKEL will never tire of repeating that only a Bi-zonal, Bi-communal Federation with political equality can free our homeland from the occupation and partition, and lead our people towards a future of peace and lasting security.
We are sending this message by calling for mass participation in the rally under the slogan “Federal Solution Now”, organised by the bi-communal initiative ‘United Cyprus’, tomorrow, Tuesday, 28 July at 6.30 pm at the entrance to the Office of the UN Representative (opposite the University of Nicosia).
