The sole concern of the President of the Republic must be the security of the country

The danger of a generalisation of the conflicts and war in the Middle East is great. Both Iran’s attack on Israel and Israel’s attack on an Iranian diplomatic mission that preceded it are reprehensible. The international community has a responsibility to take immediate initiatives and actions to de-escalate the crisis between the two countries and, consequently, for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

In the face of such a crisis, the sole concern of the President of the Republic and his government must be the security of the country and to avoid any actions and decisions that put the country in the eye of the storm and expose it internationally.

We reiterate that due to the ongoing developments, the President of the Republic has an obligation to immediately convene the National Council to discuss with the political forces how the protection of our country is ensured.
