The responsibility for the haircut, according to the European Court, lies with the Anastasiades-DISY government

With regards the recent ruling of the European Court of Justice on the European Union’s responsibility for the haircut on bank deposits in Cyprus, we do not want to comment on the legal aspect of the matter.
It is however imperative that we comment on the political aspect of the issue, that is to say, the decision for the haircut on bank deposits has a name, a surname and an address: the Anastasiades-DISY government.
Although to date the government still doesn’t assume its responsibility, the judgment undeniably considers that the responsibility lies with the Republic of Cyprus. Furthermore, the devastating consequences it had, and indeed continues to have on the economy and Cypriot society, are unquestionable
