The government is incapable of understanding that teacher’s reactions are the result of its own policy
On the government’s allegations that AKEL is behind the teacher’s mobilizations
Statement by AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Stefanos Stefanou
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 27 August 2018, Nicosia
Whenever the government has to cope with society’s reaction to its anti-social policies, it resorts to the false argument that AKEL is behind these reactions. The same pseudo-argument is now again being projected by the government to address the widespread reaction of teacher’s organizations and teachers themselves towards the government’s machinations. We had expected the government would use this false argument much earlier. It was slow to do so but in the end it did not resist the temptation! This shows that the government is in despair and at an impasse.
The government’s position that AKEL is supposedly behind the teacher’s mobilizations, as expressed in the statement issued by the Presidency, but also today’s statements made by the Government Spokesman on state television, are an insult to education organizations and teachers themselves. It is as if the government is saying that the educational organizations have no leaderships and that teachers have no judgement, but are being dragged and driven by a party.
The government is incapable of understanding that teacher’s reactions are the result of its own policy. Other than that, the government is continuing to denigrate and not value teachers.
