The Cyprus problem was absent from Ursula von der Leyen’s priorities

The fact that, in her recent speech to the plenary session of the European Parliament, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen did not include the Cyprus problem amongst the EU’s priorities is a negative development. This is particularly so at a time when the UN Secretary-General is making efforts to resume the negotiations.

This raises questions about the effectiveness of the Christodoulides Government’s policy, which has consistently claimed to have restored the Cyprus problem to the EU’s list of priorities – a position which it clearly does not hold.

We note that the presidency of the European Commission is held by the European People’s Party, of which both N. Christodoulides and DISY are members, and which they use every opportunity to highlight the EPP’s solidarity with Cyprus.

So, what do DISY and the government have to say on this development?
