The “spring” for the people is yet to come

We fully agree with DISY party’s position that the best way to determine whether developments are progressing well and exceptionally in the economy throughout the administration of this government, is to compare the current reality as experienced by working people, households and small businesses over the last three years with the situation they experienced in 2012, which it is true we were also experiencing a difficult period. That is to say, whether after the “scorched earth” the current government was saying it had inherited, they have brought the “spring” as they had pledged to do; whether by March 2013 everything is progressing from good to better or from bad to worse.

As to who is responsible for our people’s pain and suffering, the answer is that the root cause remains the same. It is the banking crisis and the robbery carried out by the banks that are to blame. However, this was accompanied by the “therapy”-manifesto of the DISY leadership and government, namely the imposition of Memoranda austerity policies and the redistribution of wealth from the non-privileged majority – who have no responsibility whatsoever for the banking crisis – to the privileged few and big private interests. The DISY party leadership is also responsible for this added pain and suffering.

It is also responsible for the continued provision of political protection for the “best bankers” and “the best central banker in the world”, who are solely responsible for Cyprus’ economic catastrophe.
