Solidarity message to the Communist Party (Turkey)

 

 

The C.C. of AKEL expresses its solidarity with the three members of the Communist Party (Turkey), Ali Adiguzel, Bahtiyar Sahin, and Deniz Tunaboylu, who have been unjustly held in prison by the Turkish authorities. The three Turkish communists were arrested by the authorities of Turkey in their attempt to celebrate peacefully Workers May Day, together with trade union organizations in the square of Istanbul.

AKEL denounces the anti-democratic stance of the Turkish authorities against the cadres of the Communist Party (Turkey) and other activists. In Turkey basic human rights contınue being systematically violated, together with the criminalization of political and social struggles.

At the same time, the C.C. of AKEL stands firmly on the side of the Turkish communists, supporting the struggle of the Communist Party and people of Turkey for true democracy.
