Self-discipline, respect for people as a whole and compliance with expert’s advice is demanded

Statement by Eleni Mavrou, AKEL Political Bureau member

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 22 March 2020, Nicosia

Friday’s encouraging news that two people had already recovered from the virus was unfortunately followed by the news last night about the first dead victim of the pandemic.

Our thoughts of us all these days is with the people who have been afflicted and in the superhuman struggle the health workers are waging in adverse conditions.

This is this struggle we must all support. Panic is not justified, neither any hasty actions generate panic, especially by some sections of the mass media. What is demanded is self-discipline and, above all, respect for people as a whole and compliance with the advice given by the experts.
