Message of the Communist Party of Finland to the 23rd Congress:

«The Communist Party of Finland sends solidarity greetings to the Communist Party of Cyprus-AKEL on the occasion of the 23th Congress of the Communist Party of Cyprus-AKEL

All through the 95-year-old history of AKEL, the party, tied to the working people, the young generation and the people, has always had pioneering contribution to the people’s struggle for freedom, democracy and peace, in the working people’s struggles locally and internationally.

The struggle of Cypriot people and AKEL to terminate the occupation of the island and for reunification of Cyprus, is at a pivotal and crucial point. The Communist Party of Finland SKP, stands on the side of the Cypriot people, the party and the just right to a long-struggled reunification of Cyprus.

The Communist Party of Finland salutes AKEL for its inspiring political work and struggle to preserve its communist identity. We find the AKEL political work with current challenges, like environmental crises, highly important for us all. Climate change and ecological disaster threaten the planet and humanity radically in the south and the north.

The 23rd Congress of AKEL will take place at a critical juncture in many current political hot spots. The whole world, Europe, and the Eastern Mediterranean is full of contradictions, conflicts and dangers. That will challenge us, internationalist and progressives to show the way towards socialism and break from the right-wing and its policies.

AKEL is showing that a communist party is necessary in today’s world in the fight against antihuman, antipeace and antidemocratic ideas and attacks

The Communist Party of Finland finds itself along the same struggle with AKEL in the anti-EU, Marxist and peace constructing struggle to change the world.

The Communist Party of Finland salutes AKEL for the strengthening of the International Communist and Workers Parties’ network and the European Left.

The SKP is sure that the 23rd Congress of AKEL will become a landmark not only for the Party, but also for Cyprus because the people of Cyprus need a strong and pioneering, militant and radical, united and well-organized, modern and constantly renewed party – AKEL.
