Message of the Central Committee of AKEL on the Anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution

On behalf of the Central Committee of AKEL, and myself personally,
I convey to you and through you to the Government, the Communist
Party of Cuba and the Cuban people, our warmest congratulations on
the occasion of the 54th Anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution.

Your 54th Anniversary is celebrated in conditions of an unprecedented
crisis of the capitalist system where the working class around the world
is striving to safeguard its historical conquests and gains when at the
same time the imperialist aggression is further escalating. These severe
conditions set the socialist perspective, which the Cuban people have
chosen, timely more than ever.

As AKEL, we reiterate our full solidarity towards your struggle for a
world of peace and social progress. We confirm our position that everyone
should respect the right of all the peoples around the world to
choose the path of their future. The struggle of the Cuban people for
socialism must be respected and any effort to the contrary is for us condemnable.

At the same time we reaffirm our condemnation of the American embargo
against Cuba and the continuing imprisonment of the 5 Cuban
Heroes by the US authorities. We support the progressive integration,
which is followed by the majority of the Latin American and
Caribbean countries, and where Cuba is in the core of these developments.

We would also like to express our appreciation for the solidarity and
support that Cuba is constantly providing to our Party and the Cypriot
people in our long-term struggle for the reunification of Cyprus and
liberation from the Turkish occupation. We have to note as well the
fraternal relations existing between our two Parties that have been established
throughout the years and express our will for the further enhancement
of these relations.

Accept once again my warmest congratulations on the Anniversary of
the Cuban Revolution and my best wishes for the year 2013.
