Mass Mobilisation of the Platform of Trade Unions and Social Organisations

 

On the 4^th March the Platform of Trade Unions and Social Organisations, the broad alliance of various movements and organisations,  is holding a mass and militant protest rally outside the Conference Hall where the Governing Council of the European Central Bank is due to convene in Nicosia. The class-based trade union organisation of the Left and the biggest worker’s force in Cyprus, namely the Pancyprian Federation of Labour PEO and member of the World Federation of Trade Unions WFTU, has played a key and pivotal role in forging and promoting working people’s joint actions, mass and organised mobilisations of trade unions and social organisations. The Platform has held a number of mass protests, events and forums against the vicious austerity policies of the Troika. Absent from these mobilisations is the right-wing mass trade union confederation of SEK and  PASYDY, the Pancyprian  Public Employees Trade Union.
