Message of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka to the 23rd Congress:
«Dear Comrades,
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, with profound feelings of fraternity and solidarity sends its warmest revolutionary greetings to the 23rd National Congress of the Communist Party of Cyprus (AKEL).
We are fully conscious of the most extra ordinary conditions under which your 23rd National Congress is being held.
Neo Liberalism, after its operation since 1980s has run into crisis causing untold suffering to the peoples the world over.
The COVID – 19 pandemic emerged with the dawn of year 2020, at a time when neo-liberalism has run into crisis. So, the ongoing economic crisis was deepened, bringing misery to the people with increased poverty and unemployment. The ongoing crisis is escalating far beyond Global Financial crisis of 2008 and even great desperation of 1928-33. This is not a general crisis of capitalism but a structural crisis of imperialism.
Against the background of the structural crisis of capitalism, the international situation remains characterized by great instability and uncertainty, with signs of deterioration in the economic and financial situation and ‘announcements’ of a new peak of crisis, used as a pretext for the intensification of a policy of exploitation and attack on fundamental democratic rights.
The situation in several countries and regions in the world is worsening as a result of imperialism’s offensive that continues and intensifies its policy of interference and aggression persists in promoting “Regime Change” operations in dangerous actions, that aims at ambitious geostrategic objectives and that open the door to reactionary and fascist forces, as happened in confrontation, interference and war against the peoples of the Asia, Middle East.
We are confident that your deliberations at the 23rd National Congress will provide you with the opportunity to evaluate the situation and map out an appropriate economic strategy to face up to the impending challenges.
