It is Charis Georgiades’ economic policies that closed down the Cyprus Cooperative Bank. The economic policies of DISY President Averof Neophytou seek to make the Cypriot people pay a heavy price for the profits the big businessmen managing the Port of Limassol are reaping.
The ruling DISY party brandishes numbers to hide the truth. Obviously, with the huge increases imposed by the private companies, they are making profits, but these are at the expense of society and the rest of the economy, a fact which the business community is also claiming. Evidently, too, when the private companies took over the responsibility for projects worth tens of millions of euros at sell-out prices that the Port Authority has assumed in previous years in the port, they are now boasting that they are reaping profits.
The agreement for the privatisation of the Port is an ongoing economic crime and a mega-scandal, which the whole country is paying for. Only DISY is still covering up the scandal. And we all know why.
