Humanity is witnessing an evolving genocide

The attack on an ambulance convoy outside Al-Sifa hospital adds to the serial crimes that are being committed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip. With this new heinous attack, the State of Israel and the Netanyahu government are proving that their real objective is nothing other than the complete destruction of Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, that is to say, the escalation of the long-standing Israeli occupation and colonisation of the Palestinian territories.

Humanity is witnessing a genocide in progress and keeping silent during these times is complicity and a cover-up for Israel’s state terrorism. Any logical person cannot but join the UN and its Secretary General in calling for an immediate ceasefire and a humanitarian truce. Nothing can justify the ongoing massacre of children and civilians wherever it may come from. The Christodoulides government’s stance on this issue is at odds not only with the UN and the overwhelming majority of the world’s states, but also with the vast majority of the Cypriot people.

AKEL calls on the Cypriot people to participate en masse in the mobilisation being organised by the Cyprus Peace Council, tomorrow Sunday, 5th November at 16:00 at the opening of Ledra Street, to demand a ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza here and now. To demand an end to the occupation and colonalisation, a two state solution based on the Resolutions of the UN. This is the only way the vicious circle of bloodshed will be broken and bring peace and security for the peoples of Palestine and Israel, but for the whole Middle East as well.
