DISY is leading the Cyprus Electricity Authority (AHK) to collapse seeking to pave the way for its privatisation
Statement by AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Giorgos Koukoumas
24 November 2022, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia
It is no coincidence that the workers and all the trade unions in the Cyprus Electricity Authority are warning about its viability. Nevertheless, the government is slandering the workers’ trade unions precisely because they are exposing its real plans regarding the fate of the semi-governmental electricity company.
The DISY government is methodically undermining the Cyprus Electricity Authority in order to hand it over to powerful private interests. In essence, the ruling DISY party is undermining AHK by keeping it understaffed and outside any investment in renewable energy sources seeking to drive it to collapse and pave the way for its privatisation.
This is, after all, the ideological position of the ruling DISY party with regards the semi-governmental public utility institutions and our country’s public wealth and property.
