AKEL, sensing the needs of a modern society without hesitation, voted for the Bill, which besides had initially been prepared during the Demetris Christofias government. Far from any extremist positions and exaggerations on both sides, we believe yesterday’s development as a step forward.

We reject the logic of homophobia. We respect diversity and believe in a pluralistic society the acceptance of all people and equal treatment is primarily a human rights issue.
