AKEL supports and calls for participation in the protest meeting organized by the Cyprus Peace Council outside the US Embassy

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 11th December 2017, Nicosia

The US Government’s unilateral provocative decision to proceed to the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s indivisible capital in violation of International Law and the resolutions of the UN has provoked the outrage not only of the Palestinian people, but of the entire international community apart from the United States. If the goal of the US was to provoke a new bloodshed and perpetuate the “constructive chaos” in the Middle East at the time when the IS has been defeated, then they seem to achieved it.

AKEL reaffirms its position on the need for the universal respect for International Law. It expresses its unreserved solidarity towards the just struggle of the Palestinian people to end the Israeli occupation and for the recognition of an independent and viable Palestinian state on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as the capital.

In this context, AKEL calls on the Cypriot people to participate in the mobilization organized by the Cyprus Peace Council tomorrow Tuesday 12th December at 17:00 p.m. outside of the US Embassy in Nicosia.
