AKEL requests to be briefed on Cyprus’ share in the funding of Ukraine

Letter from the General Secretary of AKEL to the Ministry of Finance:

The General Secretary of AKEL St. Stefanou sent a letter to the Minister of Finance formally requesting to be briefed on Cyprus’ share of the cost of covering Ukraine’s financial needs.

The letter is reproduced in its entirety below.

“According to all press reports, last Friday the EU leaders reached an agreement on joint borrowing from the markets to provide Ukraine with €90 billion in financing for 2026 and 2027.

I would ask you to brief us of the share of the cost that Cyprus will bear to cover Ukraine’s finnacial needs.”
