AKEL Parliamentary Representative meeting with the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy

The Parliamentary Representative of AKEL, Giorgos Loukaides, met today with the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nicodemos Damianou.

During the meeting, G. Loukaides highlighted the multiple benefits of the research and innovation sector, which represent a decisive tool for our country’s economic, technological and social progress. To this end, the importance of increasing public and encouraging private spending on research and innovation, which in our country remains three times below the average spending in the European Union, was stressed.

During the meeting, AKEL’s will to support the efforts of the Deputy Ministry to carry out the important work it is called upon to perform, as well as to implement the strategic plan that has been formulated so far, was underlined. AKEL also requested that the party be kept informed about the preparation of the strategic plan in order to contribute to its completion.

Finally, AKEL’s readiness to submit to the Deputy Minister the comprehensive package of recommendations prepared by the Innovation, Research and Digital Policy Sector of AKEL, as well as the intention to maintain an open channel of communication on issues related to the responsibilities of the Deputy Ministry, was expressed.
