AKEL is organizing a Festival of Solidarity with refugees

The AKEL C.C. Department on Immigration Policy, together with the organizations of the People’s Movement of the Left PEO, EDON, POGO and EKA, are organizing a “Festival of Solidarity with refugees”.

The Festival will take place on Wednesday, 30th September 2015, between 18:00 – 22:00 p.m. at the Refugee Reception Area at Kofinou and will include a cultural programme with the participation of dance and music groups, as well as various other activities for children and food will be provided.

Within this context, we will also deliver essential necessities that we have collected for the refugees up to the day of the event. With this opportunity, AKEL recalls that our campaign will continue and we call on everyone to contribute to this effort.

With this Festival AKEL will once again express in practice our solidarity with the refugees, who are victims of imperialism and the neoliberal policies of the capitalist system.

We firmly believe that at a time when the enforced displacement and uprooting of people is assuming huge proportions as a result of the on-going wars, clashes and conflicts, but also at a time when the global economic crisis has led to the growth of the phenomena of racism and xenophobia, the proper treatment and handling of refugees has become a real challenge.

AKEL and the People’s Movement of the Left are on the side of every worker, school pupil, student and pensioner, regardless of origin, race and colour.

We express our solidarity with every suffering people and every man and woman who is forced to abandon his/her homeland. We struggle with them for the self-evident right to life, education, health, work and dignity.
