AKEL on International Nurses Day

AKEL recognizes the significant contribution Nurses make in providing health services centred on people’s needs. Their contribution to health care all through the pandemic period is invaluable. We have concluded that the pandemic, as a result of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, continues to force nurses to work under immense physical and psychological pressure without the necessary support.
Their vision for health services and future care, stemming from the relevant report of the International Council of Nurses (ICN), demonstrates their interest and commitment to providing care for our fellow human beings who need it.
We call on the government to support their work, taking into account in particular the Global Nursing Report which urges governments to invest in the massive acceleration of nursing education, the creation of new nursing jobs/positions and contributing towards strengthening nurses’ leadership.
AKEL honors the struggle of nurses in the fight against the pandemic, as well as their contribution towards the promotion, improvement and restoration of citizen’s and society’s health.
On the occasion of the International Nurses’ Day, AKEL wishes all the nurses of our country good health, strength and the fulfillment of their expectations.
