AKEL expresses its deepest sorrow for the passing away of comrade Adriana Misiaouli

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 30th October 2020, Nicosia

AKEL expresses its deepest sorrow over the passing away of Adriana Misiaouli, the wife of comrade Kostas Misiaoulis, who was assassinated in April 1965 together with his Turkish Cypriot comrade Dervis Ali Kavazoglou by the Turkish Cypriot chauvinist extreme-right.

Adriana Misiaouli was a member of AKEL for almost 70 years, very active on the side of her comrade and husband Kostas, particularly during the period when the Party was outlawed by the British colonialists. After the assassination of AKEL militants Misiaoulis and Kavazoglou, Adriana Misiaouli devoted herself to her family and children, always remaining loyal to the Party and remaining active within the ranks of the Progressive Women’s Movement (POGO).

AKEL respectfully bids farewell to comrade Adriana Misiaouli and expresses its sincere condolences to her family.

AKEL will undertake the cost of the funeral, which will take place on Saturday, 31st October at 11:00 am at the Church of Constantine and Helen. The funeral eulogy will be delivered by Skevi Koukouma, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of AKEL and General Secretary of the Progressive Women’s Movement of POGO.
