AKEL on EDON’s reelection to the Presidency of WFDY

On behalf of the C.C. of AKEL, we congratulate the United Democratic Youth Organization EDON for its re-election to the Presidency of the World Federation of Democratic Youth  WFDY.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth represents 155 youth organizations coming from more than 100 countries all over the world. These youth organizations have millions of members. The WFDY has always expressed its strong support to the struggle of the Cypriot people for liberation and reunification, unequivocally condemning the Turkish invasion and occupation.

EDON had been elected for the first time to the Presidency of the WFDY in 2011 and was reelected to the post this year as well. This is a development that honors Cyprus and Cypriot youth in general.

As AKEL, we reaffirm our support to the efforts EDON is making to strengthen the WFDY and the youth movement internationally.

We also congratulate Nikolas Papademetriou and wish him every success in the difficult task he has undertaken.
