AKEL denounces the new terrorist attack in Istanbul

AKEL expresses its grief for the new terrorist attack that took place at Istanbul airport yesterday evening which so far has resulted in 36 dead and dozens wounded.
This attack is a continuation of previous similar attacks waged in Turkey that have their root causes in a vicious cycle of violence in which the Turkish state itself also plays a structural role. Turkey’s involvement in the Syrian civil war in recent years by supplying and strengthening the Islamic State and other terrorist organizations, as well as the all-out attacks on and persecution of the Kurds of Turkey are the main source from which phenomena such as yesterday’s attack originate.
