The meeting between the UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy on Cyprus and Turkey’s so-called “Ambassador” in the occupied territories constitutes a major political blunder on the part of Ms Olgin.

Her action constitutes a violation of numerous UN Security Council resolutions on Cyprus, but also of the resolutions which deem the declaration of the pseudo-state [in the occupied areas] to be illegal and null and void. The officials of the United Nations must respect and not ignore or violate, the resolutions of the Organisation they serve.
