Meeting between the General Secretary of AKEL Stefanos Stefanou and ELAS President Alexis Tsipras

The General Secretary of AKEL Stefanos Stefanou met today with Alexis Tsipras, former Prime Minister of Greece and President of the Greek Left Alliance (ELAS), who is in Cyprus for meetings and to participate in a conference organized by the Alexis Tsipras Institute in collaboration with the Prometheus Research Institute.
During the meeting, the General Secretary of AKEL briefed Alexis Tsipras on the ongoing consultations aimed at resuming substantive negotiations to solve the Cyprus problem, picking up where they had been suspended in 2017 at Crans-Montana, emphasizing the importance of both leaders demonstrating political will. They also exchanged information on developments in Cyprus and Greece and shared views on the current international situation, particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Alexis Tsipras congratulated Stefanos Stefanou on AKEL’s results in the recent parliamentary elections, noting their importance in strengthening the struggle for the rights of Cyprus and its people.
