The anticipated initiative on the Cyprus problem calls for a strong AKEL and a powerful force for reunification

Mr. Christodoulides’ statements concerning an imminent plan for a solution to the Cyprus problem confirm the messages that in the coming months the UN Secretary-General will launch a new initiative on the Cyprus problem. We must all realize how important it is for this new effort to yield results and not lead to another failure, which would likely mean the permanent partition of our homeland with unpredictable consequences for all Cypriots.

As the Cyprus problem and Cyprus itself will find themselves at a new crossroad, it is of crucial importance which forces will be n a position to steer developments towards a solution and reunification.

AKEL is the force that understands the situation very well and has a coherent proposal for what must and can be done regarding the Cyprus problem.

To protect the agreed-upon basis for a solution and all the acquis recorded in negotiations up to Crans-Montana.

To continue the negotiations from where they left off in 2017, based on the Guterres Framework for the remaining pending issues.

To pave the way for the liberation and reunification of our homeland and people.
