The government must correct errors and omissions
8 March 2024, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia
Yesterday’s discussion of the Auditor General’s report on the state health services OKYPY highlighted some of the problems that exist in public hospitals, as well as on the OKYPY Board. The damning statements of the Director General of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance, and the employees should be of concern to all.
The Minister of Health, as the political head and the government who appointed the current Board is called upon to intervene and correct errors, omissions and weaknesses that exist.
At the same time, we express our concern about the complaints made by the trade unions regarding the regression that has occurred in the conclusion of collective agreements, which is to the detriment of the functionality and efficiency of the Organisation. The government must act in a way so that proper labour relations are in place.
