AKEL C.C. Spokesperson Giorgos Koukoumas reply to President Christodoulides

If Mr. Christodoulides calls for seriousness to prevail then he should give a serious and clear answer whether or not he has an invitation from Tayyip Erdogan. And since, as he says, the Cyprus problem does not lend itself to communication purposes, the Presidency should consequently stop leaking scenarios and theories [to the media] about Erdogan’s invitation.

Seriousness on the Cyprus problem demands, instead of public discussions on all these issues, a collective debate in the National Council, as AKEL has been calling for since 30 November. The President of the Republic is called upon to responsibly inform the political leadership, followed by an exchange of assessments and positions. The decisions are of course will be taken by the President, but who is also responsible for them.
