The General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL met with the Chargé d’Affaires of Iran

The General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou had a meeting today with the Iranian Chargé d’Affaires General in Cyprus Faramarz Jannati. Vera Polycarpou, Head of the International Relations and European Policy of the C.C. of AKEL, accompanied the General Secretary of AKEL at the meeting.

The General Secretary of AKEL briefed the Iranian diplomat on the current situation surrounding the Cyprus problem and about Turkey’s provocative actions in Varosha. S.Stefanou underlined the urgent need for a resumption of the talks from the point where they had remained at the Crans Montana conference, with the aim of reaching a solution of a bizonal, bicommunal federation.
