DISY would do well to remember EOKA B also opposed Makarios

DISY should finally admit which side of history they were and are on

The President of the ruling DISY party yesterday attacked the late President Makarios, referring to “methods, attitudes and practices employed by Makarios”. In other words, the remarks made by DISY President Averof Neofytou echoed the myth propagated by EOKA B that the elected President Makarios was a dictator and that’s why the coup d’état occurred. Furthermore, Averof Neofytou added that he and the ruling DISY party was against what he termed as “Makarios’ practices”. However, also opposed to Makarios was the traitorous organisation EOKA B, as DISY headquarters would to well to remember…

So since they want to reopen a debate on the historical events, they should finally admit which side of history they were and are on. And let them also clarify what role Averof Neophytou will play: that of the current anti-Makarios apologist of EOKA B or the one who in 2016 glorified Makarios in a memorial speech?
