AKEL A.Damianou on Government-DISY: They have become a burden for the country

A third term of the DISY government means a continuation of the policies of corruption and tolerance of corruption, social inequalities and a continuation of the slide towards partition, AKEL MP Aristos Damianou pointed out.

Speaking to the morning edition of ‘Astra’ radio, Aristos Damianou stressed that without the support of other forces, DISY President Averof Neophytou will not get the necessary 50%+1 vote to continue the supposedly marvelous work of Nicos Anastasiades.

As he said, the Anastasiades-DISY government have become a burden to the country through their policies.

A.Damianou said that AKEL is engaged in a sincere discussion as a priority with the Democratic Party DIKO, but with other opposition parties too about the prospect of forging cooperation.

The AKEL MP added that they are also talking with all those people and forces who believe that the country should be rid of the Anastasiades-DISY government, of which, as he said a few weeks ago, Nikos Christodoulides was also a part of.

Aristos Damianou also said that the procedure on the upcoming presidential election in AKEL will be completed in the spring, while he noted that his party is doing everything possible to bring about progressive change in the country.

As the AKEL MP said, the gossip surrounding potential presidential candidates is not the primary concern for the moment, however popular all the talk around names may be.
