The AKEL C.C. Sports Award to Sotiris Kaiafas and Takis Lyras

Next Friday, April 16th, 2021, at 7.45 pm, the “Costas Lympouris – Niki Georgiou Award for Services to Sports” of the C.C. of AKEL will take place for 2020. The event was scheduled for last November, but was postponed due to restrictive measures taken for the pandemic.
The award will be given to Sotiris Kaiafas, a football player – legend of the 20th century in Cyprus and to Takis Lyras, a renowned sports personality, for their contribution and services to sports in Cyprus.
The award will be presented by the General Secretary of AKEL Andros Kyprianou, who will be the keynote speaker at the event, as well as an address by the Youth.
In the event, which will take place in the Event Hall of POED (Kyrenias Avenue, Aglantzia), all the Ministry of Health’s health protocols will be observed and FIFTY (50) people will be allowed to participate, with registered invitations. This number has already been completed and the event will be broadcast live (live streaming) from the AKEL Facebook page.
The event will be honored by the presence of the Presidents or representatives of the Cyprus Sports Organisation (KOA), Cyprus Olympic Committee (KOE), Cyprus Basketball Federation (KOK), Cyprus Football Federation (KOP), Cyprus Sports Writers Association (EAK), the “OMONOIA” football club Veterans Association, teammates of Sotiris Kaiafas, veteran basketball teammates of Takis Lyras and other honorees.
The event is supported by OPAP Cyprus Ltd and will be addressed by the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports.
