Anastasiades is the first and only President who dared not only to discuss but also propose our country’s partition

The denials issued by the President of the Republic do not convince anyone. The truth is that Nikos Anastasiades is the first and only President of Cyprus who dared not only discuss, but also propose the partition of our country through the solution of two states on the Cyprus problem. Acting behind the people’s backs, he flirted with the idea of permanently and irrevocably handing over 37% of our homeland to Turkey.
The damage caused by Nikos Anastasiades to the cause of Cyprus, to the credibility of the Republic of Cyprus and the Greek Cypriot community, is incalculable and has no historical precedent.
At this point, we do not know whether this enormous damage is now reversible. However, to have some hope that this will not become irreparable, President Anastasiades is called to realize that things are – as a result of his own grave responsibilities too – on a course that is both on the edge and dangerous for our people and country, for the future of the future generations.
AKEL submitted to President Anastasiades a comprehensive proposal on how it must act now, even belatedly. If Mr. Anastasiades does not change direction immediately, he will go down in the murky records of History as the leader of the partition of our island.
