The government of “immaculate” Mr. Anastasiades not only set up the industry selling golden passports, not only did it hide the EU’s repeated warnings about the passport program from the people, but it didnt take any action whatsoever.
This European Commissioner of Justice pointed this out yesterday too in the European Parliament.
But how could the government have taken any measures! After all, Cyprus – according to President Anastasiades himself – had a Passport Program that had the strictest criteria of all the member states of the EU. That’s what Mr. Anastasiades was saying when the European Commission was blasting Cyprus about the “golden” passports scheme.
Yesterday’s debate in the European Parliament and the revelations made by the EU Commissioner of Justice, demonstrated the magnitude of our country’s humiliation.
The revelations exposed all the lies that Mr. Anastasiades and his government employed for the continuation of the feast of the “golden” passports scheme.
If the Anastasiades – DISY government had any political sensitivity it should have resigned for the golden passports scandal that was set up with its own decisions and actions.
If the Anastasiades – DISY government had any political sensitivity it should have resigned because of the humiliation our country is being subjected to internationally.
However, the government hasn’t accustomed us to such sensitivity. What it is has accustomed us is its political insensitivity.
The government has convinced that it is of limited political responsibility.
