Message of the CC AKEL, to the Tudeh Party of Iran on the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Communist Party of Iran
Dear Comrades,
On the truly momentous occasion of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Communist Party of Iran and its worthy successor the TUDEH Party, the Central Committee of AKEL conveys its warmest, fraternal and militant greetings to the leadership, cadres and members of TUDEH. This day is not just a day of commemoration for Iranian communists, but for all communists throughout the world who deeply respect this militant path of struggle and stand in solidarity with the struggles of the Iranian communists.
This landmark day recalls the heroic and enormous sacrifices made by the Iranian communists throughout these one hundred years. CPI – Tudeh Party all though its history has struggled relentlessly and courageously for the rights of the working people, for the development of the country, for its freedom and sovereignty, for democracy and socialism. There is not a single struggle in all spheres of Iranian society that the CPI-Tudeh has not left its indelible mark. From the struggles of the working class, to the peasants, to the progressive people of culture, of women and youth.
All these struggles prove Tudeh Party true to its name as the Party of the Masses, deeply rooted in the hearts and minds of the Iranian working people, no matter the fierce attacks and persecutions that were and are being waged against it. Countless of Iranian communists have suffered repression, imprisonment, torture and execution. AKEL pays homage to the martyrs and heroes of CPI-Tudeh Party who gave their lives defending their ideals and the Iranian people’s rights and aspirations.
The situation in the Middle East is volatile, with constant imperialist interventions aiming at securing the control over the natural resources and energy routes in the region. Imperialism uses all kinds of fundamentalist and obscurantist forces to pursue and impose its interests. These interventions, seek also to undermine and prevent any prospect of progressive change and development in the countries of the whole region. The price is paid in all cases by the peoples.
AKEL highly appreciates the contribution and role played by Tudeh Party in forging a common front of struggle in our tormented region aiming at the peaceful resolution of conflicts on the basis of international law, non-intervention in the internal affairs of states and the respect of the sovereignty of states.
On this occasion AKEL reiterates its readiness to further develop our already close relations both on a bilateral and multilateral level within the framework of the international communist movement. We will continue our struggles for our common ideals, for peace, democracy and socialism, for the prosperous future for ours and all peoples.
We express our sincere gratitude for the unreserved and consistent principled solidarity expressed by your Party towards the struggle of the Cypriot people and AKEL for the end of the Turkish occupation of 37% of our island, and for the reunification of our country and people though a bizonal, bicommunal federal solution.
