The only thing that can put an end to Turkey’s actions is the resumption of substantive negotiations
Statement by the General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL A.Kyprianou on Tatar statements

I would like to express our deep concern over the recent statements of Mr. Tatar (so-called ‘prime minister’ of the illegal regime). That is, the process of colonising Famagusta will be accelerated. These statements are provocative and unacceptable. They violate the relevant UN Resolutions and are condemnable.
At the same time, we urge the President of the Republic not to bypass these statements hastily. He must take them very seriously into account. The necessary appeals must be made in various directions, but we must not be deluded. The only thing that can put an end to these provocative statements, but also Turkey’s other provocative actions is the resumption of substantive negotiations aiming at the solution of the Cyprus problem as soon as possible. Of course, the solution must be based on the agreed framework, the relevant UN Resolutions, the High-Level Agreements, the principles on which the EU is founded and international law.
