Citizens in last Sunday’s elections, starting from a similar or different starting point, voted overwhelmingly in favor of the need for change. They voted in favor of the need for Cyprus to turn a page and leave the past behind them.
As much as the Anastasiades election team is trying to keep citizens in the past, the only thing it achieves is to demonstrate its inability to talk about the present and the future.
Unfortunately, during the most decisive moments for Cypriot society and its future, more specifically during the March 2013 Eurogroup meeting of the haircut on bank deposits and in Crans Montana, the outgoing President did not tell the truth.
He broke the pledges he made to citizens on all key issues.
His pre-election considerations lead him constantly to transformations and metamorphoses.
The outgoing president is characterized by his untrustworthiness and that is why citizens can’t trust him.
What citizens can trust is the seriousness, credibility, ethos and consensus that characterizes the candidacy of Stavros Mala.
