In yet another European survey Cyprus has been registering a sad first record.
In the European survey on the financial and economic situation and consumption habits of households in the Eurozone countries, Cyprus has the largest decrease of all the countries in the median value of property. This reduction verges on 40%.
Cyprus also has the largest decrease in gross household income. This reduction is over 34%.
Cyprus in all the European surveys conducted on the state of society and citizens, records sad firsts. We recall that our country is European champion in the increase of income inequality, lower wages and increasing job insecurity. From its ranking among the European average, Cyprus has in recent years found itself been the poorest countries in the Eurozone.
It is imperative for a radical change in the neoliberal austerity policies, undermining labour relations and shrinking the welfare state, being followed by the Anastasiades – DISY party Government. The fanfare and idealizations of the government and ruling forces in no way correspond to poverty, social insecurity and the severe reduction in revenue experienced by citizens.
